you need to watermark images before you upload them – most photo editing programs will let you watermark – there are some special programs available that do watermarking as well as some web sites
I also compress and scale down most images so when they are stolen they are not worth much to the thief

not a big deal – I don’t normally do much posting on watermarks so took a bit to find a couple of links – I need to go back and read the daily post one
mostly I just scale down 600 px or so then compress the daylights out of the final file so you can make a 4×6 inch postcard and that is about all
have a nice weekend

Thank you both. The articles were quite good.
So, maybe just changing the dpi. I tried to do that in Preview. As is noted, DPI is meaningless until you go to print or display. I made my dpi 60 pixels/inch, but it didn’t seem to change the resolution at all. When I went to 10 pixels/inch it finally made a visibly notable change in quality. For the average 4×6 image, what would you recommend for DPI to safeguard your photos and images?
Also, if I do add a watermark, like in Preview, by adding a copyright text box, the articles are saying that that can be removed afterward? Is that true still even if I re-save it as a jpeg?

No, you cannot remove a watermark from any image you upload into your blog that is watermarked. Keep an original copy that is not watermarked.
