Watson Menu Problem

  • Unknown's avatar

I have the Watson theme and I cannot seem to get my menu to extend the full width of my page. Now I have two rows of menus, instead of just one stretching across the top. Is there any way to fix this with CSS?

Thank you so much in advance!

    Hi there,

I just took a look at your site and there are a couple of things causing your menu to go on to two rows. The first is that the actual width of your site only goes so far. There are margins of whitespace which doesn’t have any text or content (including menus). This is to accommodate narrower screens which might be viewing your site.

The other thing which is contributing to this is how long the Display names for your links are. If you reduce those to shorter names, they might all fit on to one line.

Let me know if you have any questions!

    Hey amightywp :)

Definitely understand what you mean by shortening the names…I’m really struggling to get my content to go the full-width of the site. Changing that now. :)

Is there any way to make the width of the menu larger?

There really isn’t in this theme. There are some other themes which use the full width of the screen, but they frequently don’t have menu bars which use all of that screen. The theme Full Frame is a great example of that:

It uses the whole screen, but the menus don’t go from end to end, as you can see.
