I’m using the Watson Theme. Is it possible to move the subscribe links from the footer area to the top of the page (more than likely where the menu is located? I’ve purchased custom design but I’m not very familiar with CSS. I appreciate your help. Thank you.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

When you say “subscribe” links, are you talking about the Follow Blog widget in the sidebar or the sharing buttons at the bottom of individual posts and pages?

Yes sir. I’m talking about the sharing buttons at the bottom of individual posts and pages. I would like to move those buttons (FB, Twitter, etc) to the top near the navigation menu. I appreciate your response. Thanks.

In some instances this can be done relatively cleanly, if the CSS and HTML are structured in a certain way, but in Watson, that isn’t the case. The problem we run into is we have to use position: absolute in order to move them which floats them above all the other content. Also, both the sharing/likes section and the post are never a constant length. If we move the sharing/likes to the top of the post, perhaps above the title, and you get a whole bunch of likes, then they could overlap onto the title and meta data at the top. With it set to position: absolute, the title and content will not automatically move down to make room for a lot of likes.

One of the reasons that the sharing/likes section is at the bottom of the posts is that typically someone reads a post and when they get to the end they see the sharing and like buttons and think, yeah, this is good, I’m going to like this and share it.

We could move the sharing to the top above the post title, but the likes section is the one that could present a problem if you get a lot of likes on a post since it will grow vertically with all the Gravatars.

That makes sense. I appreciate the response. Thank you.
