Way to see other blogs of forum posters
-
This weekend I found myself being active in the forum answering (when I could!) some questions about the new 2.5.
What was frustrating was not having a way to go see the blogs in question. The posters would have to specifically post their blog URL.
There should be a way to permit us to attach a blog URL to our forum name so people can click and see our blogs.
I had no idea so many different types of blogs were being done. Wire wrapping? Who knew?

Yes, absolutely. And you have already done it.
Under your dashboard Profile page, you put the blog address under “Website” starting with http. Then your name is always a link to your blog. But the reason so many people in the forums haven’t done that and aren’t aware of it is that this is the first time they’ve found their way here and so they never read the instructions for that.
If the search function were not also borked, it would come up in a search, as it’s been covered many times. So many I at least didn’t feel like going over it yet again.

If the people put their blog URL’s in their profiles, then it will link to their user name here. If they put the URL of their myspace page, then we have to ask. The problem is some have multiple blogs, and in those cases, no matter which blog staff links to the username, the blogger will be asking about another.
It may be a problem without a solution. I too get really tired of having to ask, what is your blog URL, what browser are you using, what version, what operating system, exactly which post is the problem on, etc.

Also:
Your help was indispensable over the weekend and I for one would like to thank you.

Ah! I wish everyone else had done it too. I would have liked to have seen the blogs behind the people!

For a brief, glorious period if you linked your name to your blog and made a comment on a WP.com blog that had the Recent Comments widget in the sidebar, Technorati counted every comment as a regular link to your blog. It was beautiful! Talk about an incentive to connect with the community!
Unfortunately, I mentioned it at the Northern Voice blogging conference and the next thing I knew it was “fixed.” Yeah, like getting your dog “fixed.”

I of course was attempting humor and should have put a smiley after it.
Yes, thanks to everyone who was here helping answer questions.

That’s okay, I got it. I promised myself I wouldn’t hit the forums today until I’d had my coffee.
Really though, thanks to everyone who’s been helping. It has been a very frustrating experience especially because most of the posters have been new to the forum and not used to reading other threads before posting questions, etc. Congrats to everyone who’s been helping.
