Way too many block editor errors!!!!
-
For my site, the ability to convert to Block editor as shown in your FAQs does not exist and is never presented. All I get are block errors can’t display post. Yes, this is an older site that has accumulated content over several years, but obviously your conversion to Block process is not working for this site. HELP or I go somewhere else.
Convert Classic Content to Blocks
When the post begins to load in the block editor, you will be presented with a pop-up which offers to automatically convert your content to blocks. The pop-up has two buttons: a blue ‘Convert to Blocks’ button on the left, and a ‘Cancel’ button on the right.Click the blue ‘Convert to Blocks’ button to automatically switch the post content to blocks:
The site I need help with is [visible only to staff] (email visible only to moderators and staff).

Hey there, could you copy a post that we can test, and save it as a draft so we can test this on our side? We’d like to see what you’re seeing.
-
Take a look at the saved Test post created in Block editor then take a look at the Welcome post too. Both display “this block has encountered an error and cannot be previewed”. Thanks.
-
Thanks for that!
Here’s what I see for that Test post draft:
– In the post editor: https://d.pr/i/UdN6BB
– When I click “preview” (I opened it in a new window): https://d.pr/i/zTPdSTThey both look fine for me (aside from the text/image overlap in the post editor, which looks fine on the front end).
I did the same for the Welcome post and it looks fine in the editor as well.
Can you let us know what browser (and version) and what operating system (and version) you’re using? I’d like to rule out a problem there first before we look into this further.
Thanks!

Hi,
It does seem to be an intermittent error (too frequent, but not necessarily 100% of the time). I use SafariVersion 14.1.1 (15611.2.7.1.6, 15611) on Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7
I will keep creating posts and see what happens. Let me know if you want any captures of the HTML that is being generated for the preview that results in an error.
Thanks,
Steve -

That would be helpful! If there are any errors in the browser console, those would be helpful as well.
Let us know how it goes!

Here is how the error looks. I entered the post via the “Edit” (block editor) selection. I also tried the Edit link at the bottom of the post. Both show this result. The intermittent aspect of this problem is I successfully updated this same post yesterday. I am tweaking the layout and text to see how it looks on different devices and finding an optimal solution.

Hi there,
Is this only happening on Safari? I suggest trying a different browser to see if this an issue with Safari or if there’s something wrong on your site.
