We have two users. Only one writes blogs. However, some visitors report seeing both names as blog authors. how to fix this?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Hi Barry,
After looking into your account, I found that there was only one author who created posts:
ebharrison
If you see someone else on the site, please provide me the direct URL and I will take a further look.

Hi Grace. It appears that at to me also. I asked my client, a teacher at Georgetown U., to share a link for us to delve further into the issue. When he told me that this was happening (see his note below) they may be reading these elsewhere, but generated from the WP site and in traveling from WP to wherever that is, both our names are being listed. Question: could this have something to do with that he (ebuceharrison) and I (barryspector) are both listed as WP users? If I delete myself as a user would that eliminate the problem? Would it also prevent me from posting his blogs for him going forward? Here is his note:
when my blog is picked up (as by Georgetown students), the head says E. Bruce Harrison, and under that in smaller type, but prominent: By Barry Spector. Thanks, Grace. Looking forward to learning more.

No, because I’m only seeing one author. If he can provide the link where he sees both I can take a further look, but at this time I only see one author.
If I delete myself as a user would that eliminate the problem?
No, because I’m not seeing this problem at the moment.
Would it also prevent me from posting his blogs for him going forward?
No it should not.

If you could provide a screenshot of some sort that would be helpful. Please upload it to your Media > Library and I can take another look.

Ok Grace, I have a screen shot for you. Here it is and what is happening: My client set up a facebook group, “Crisis Communications Spring 2015” and somehow makes his WP blogs available there. Beneath the blog title it says, “A blog by [his name]” followed by, “by [my name]”. Let me know what you think is happening and how to remove the “by [my name]”. Thanks, again. Hi there,
Thanks for the screenshot. Please note that you are the owner of the blog so it is pulling your display name as the author of the blog. If you want, you can change your display name by going to Users > My Profile in your WP Admin Dashboard. Or you can change the ownership of the site to his account. Please note that you will lose access to the site if we do this. If you want to go through with this please let me know.

Well option 2 is out BC my client cannot manage posts on his own. That leaves changing my user name. If I change it to his name (I’m invisible in this whole enterprise do it’s ok by me) won’t his name show up twice on his Facebook group page? If yes, here’s a question toward another approach: how else can we get his blogs onto his FB site do only his name appears (and just once)? Thsnks in advance and for your quick reply.
-
Once you update your Display Name, let me know and we can clear the cache using Facebook’s Debugger tool. Once we do that you can reshare the site on Facebook and the new name will show up.
-
When I go to Users > My Profile, it says my public profile is hidden, and that I have to go to gravatar.com to un-hide it. I went there and the choice was to hide it, not unhide it. Either way, I was still concerned that unhiding it and changing it would still result in two author names on his site. So, what happens if we do change ownership of the site? I would have his username and password anyway. Plus, I originally set this up for his benefit, so him owning it wouldn’t really matter. So, please let me know if we can pursue this direction and not have downtime and I could manage the whole transfer without his intervention. We could copy him on everything and that would be that. How shall we proceed?

So, what happens if we do change ownership of the site? I would have his username and password anyway.
If you set up the owner under his account with his name that would show up in the shares. This would be the better option. Provide me the username and I can update the owner to his account. Since you already have the username/password that would be fine. This way your names are not mixed up.
-
He doesn’t have an account. I’d like to make mine his (transfer ownership of my current account to his name, etc.)We could change the username to ebharrison and the password to reecho2me. Is that do-able? Then you can make him the administrator and user and I could always log in as him, and we can delete me as user since I am not posting anything there ever. Sound good?
-
Please note this is a public forum. Please update your password immediately. I have removed it from your post.
You can change the name displayed on your posts and comments by changing the “display name” on your Personal Settings Dashboard:
You can watch a video showing how to change your display name here:
If you need to change your actual username, please follow these steps:
Since you are changing your username, you wouldn’t need to delete you previous one as there is no previous one.
Cheers!

Thank you so much, Grace, for all your help. In summary, I will change my username to his, along with his password. I will delete myself as a user since I don’t post to the site. BIG QUESTION: If I change my username to his, and delete my own, what will happen to all of the posts already made by him under his username? Won’t the system think there are two users with the same name, one who posts and the other who doesn’t. The last thing I’d want to happen is to swap out our names and lose all the existing posts. I am confused and a bit apprehensive.
-
Hi Barry,
I’m a bit confused, because I am seeing another account under the username on the site:
ebharrison
That is a separate account so you wouldn’t be able to switch it to that. If you have the username/password for that site, I can update the owner to account.
Let me know if that is what you would like to do. The posts are already under that account.

Grace: I posted a screen shot of the site of Bruce’s that I am managing in the media library for you to look at. I just want to make sure that the “other” site of his you are referring to *is not the one pictured*. If it is different, then let’s make the owner of that other site the owner of this one. , then let me know and I will ask him for the correct access info. I will explain to him that by becoming the owner of the site I am managing, we can allow me continue to manage it and delete all traces of [my name] from it. At that time I will need to ask him to repost his blogs onto his facebook page in order that [my name] no longer appears. That would be correct, wouldn’t it? Or would [my name] just disappear from his existing posts?
-
Barry, please have him update the password of that account. Please note, again, this is a public forum. Do not paste any passwords here.

Sh*t!. Grace, is it possible for you to delete my post from 3:09pm with that confidential info?
