We just discovered an error in one of our tools on WordPress.com.

Hi folks,
Today I noticed that a message pops up on the top of my blog Dashboard. The message is “We just discovered an error in one of our tools on WordPress.com that may have affected your password’s security”.Is this a vulnerability in the site? I am vulnerable to any attack?. Are you guys concerned about this message?.Please let me know which security issues might I have with this.

Good point but the OP says dashboard and I don’t remember anything in the forum about the dashboard and the password – and I would have expected some note about change the password and make sure you are really logged in to WordPress.COM.
My other thought is some browser issue due to a virus on the OP’s computer

mikeonweb.wordpress.com is not longer available. The new page is http://crdevelopment.wordpress.com. I don’t think it is a virus, I have my computer up to date. I have tried with other browsers i.e Firefox,IE and Chrome and it shows up the same message. I did receive a message about the password a couple of months ago. I did reset the password but today I noticed about the error.
I would like to know if this message is being generated by WordPress or discover if it is a kind of attack I’m getting against my blog. -
Should the Dashboard page be SSL? I just realized that my Dashboard is not using SSL.I’m not sure if this message is a general message or is something I should take care.

I’m using Microsoft Family Safety in my personal computer.Do you guys think this tool is causing the message?

If you had not been to the dashboard of that blog in quite some time it could be a legitimate wordpress message. I seem to remember that message appearing in the dashboard of my blog that was caught in that as well, but I’m not entirely positive.
I’ll tag this thread for staff attention and hopefully they will pop around shortly and clarify.

That notice is actually quite a bit old, but it’s definitely from us.
If you have not yet done so already, I recommend changing your password as soon as possible.

I just remember I received an email from WordPress indicating that I must change my password, I already did, that’s why this message did not make sense for me.Thank you guys for your comments, I really appreciate it.
