I’ve been trying to put a button from theweathernetwork.com into my side bar. It doesn’t seem to work if I try and put it in as a link or as an RSS feed. I apologize for my ignorance in advance.

You can’t put javascript on wordpress.com blogs.
If you’re trying to use an RSS feed, use an RSS feed widget instead of a Text widget.

Here’s the script the weathernetwork site gave me:

This is the css customization forum that you’re in. The script above is clearly javascript and javascript is not allowed at wordpress.com for security reasons. This is stated in the pink sticky FAQ’s at the head of the forum http://wordpress.com/forums/topic.php?id=467&replies=2 and in the FAQs blog http://faq.wordpress.com/?s=javascript. Consequently, I think the best you can do at this point in time is submit this to the ideas forum and ask sysadmin to put it on the “wish list”.
