web address

Hi, I had a URL which I deleted by mistake as I was trying to update something but when I’ve gone to set it up again it won’t let me have the same URL address without about 10 numbers (before I had it with no numbers) does anyone know if I can get my site back? Thanks

  • What is the URL of the site you’re trying to recover?

    Littlesjourneyandme

  • Hello,

As it had been less than 30 days since deletion, we were able to recover that site for you.

You should see it active in your “My Sites” area. Please let us know if you do not.

Thanks, the design however seems to be different – the title seems to have disappeared (littles_journey&me) which was from the theme I’d chosen as has the ‘about me’ block which also had an option to add instagram handle – is there anyway to recover this?

  • The site was previously using Blank Canvas, which you can switch back to at https://wordpress.com/theme/blank-canvas :)

Thanks – sorry another question – I’ve managed to find the ‘about me’ block but is there a way of moving this to the home page rather than the ‘blog’ page?

    thanks

  • Hello there,

No problem – you should be able to highlight those blocks and click copy, with a view to paste them in the new location.

I created this screenshot to show you how this can be done: https://d.pr/i/pOxfaz

    I hope this helps.

Hi, that link won’t open.. I have managed to copy and paste the text of the block but the picture and Instagram link handle won’t move with it. I need to copy full block rather than just the text but this doesn’t seem to be possible? Thanks

  • Hello there,

No problem, I’ve uploaded the screenshot into your media library:

Using the above steps, you should be able to copy and paste the blocks in their entirety.

    I hope this helps.

Yep I’ve managed this it just won’t then paste onto my home page..?

  • Hi there,

If I can ask, where are you trying to add your About Me block on the homepage? It’s not clear from me (by looking at your current homepage) where you would add that exactly. Are you trying to create a “sidebar” on your homepage similar to what you have on your Blog page? Or are you trying to add the About me in some other location instead?

    Thanks for the additional info!

When I first chose the theme it included the about me block on the home page underneath the ‘subscribe’ box (where the coffee picture is) but for some reason it disappeared. I don’t really mind where it goes – I just thought having the about me block makes more sense on the home page – or perhaps I should create a 3rd page just for ‘about me’ if that’s possible.

  • Thanks for clarifying. I think the easiest way to get that section back is to start a new homepage, and load the homepage template again in that new page. You can start a new page at this link: https://wordpress.com/page/littlesjourneyandme.wordpress.com

Once you start your new page, you will be asked if you want to use a template or start with a blank page. You can then pick the template from the list, as shown in the video here: https://d.pr/v/nODW6v

This will create a little work, as you will need to change the text and images again, but it will restore the “About” section to the homepage. This is I think easier than trying to paste in the blocks from your Blog page.

In truth that is what most site owners do. You can just create a new page titled “About” and then add your info in there. Once you create your page, you can add a link to it in your site menu by following the steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/menus/

Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
