Web address
-
I have a domain name that I’ve had for a few years and want to use it without the wordpress.com at the end of it. This question is probably already answered but I don’t understand a lot of the terminology so my question is; with the personal plan would my web address/name just be ‘brandy snaps.com.au’? Thank you in advance. Chris
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Chris,
With the Personal WordPress plan, you can buy a custom domain like ‘brandysnaps.com.au’ provided it is available which you can point to load your WordPress.com site brandysnapscomau.wordpress.com.
More details about different plans are available at

Thank you for your reply nijugrapher and yes I already own the domain name, I just want to use it as a stand alone web address not brandysnapscomau.wordpress.com, just brandy snaps.com.au.

With an upgrade to the Personal plan you can either transfer your domain to WordPress.com (if .com.au is an accepted extension here) or you can keep paying for your domain where it is and map it to your WordPress.com site. Either way visitors will only see the shorter address.

Hi there,
I just want to clarify that we don’t currently support registration or transfers of .au domains, so if you want to use a domain with that extension you’ll need to register it somewhere else first. Then you can connect it to your WordPress.com site using the domain mapping upgrade, as per the second link @themagicrobot linked to above.
