    1) Under Settings – Web Address – I can delete that URL a million times and save, but it isn’t clearing! Argh

    2) Why force us to get a domain for ads? Google doesn’t!

    thx

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m guess you are referring to the web address linked to your gravatar. If you go here: http://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php?page=grofiles-user-settings you should be able to delete the URL, and then press save down the bottom. Hopefully that will work for you.

WordPress requires you get a custom domain, because this is a free service, and the Terms of Service (http://en.wordpress.com/tos/) you agreed to upon signing up say you cannot put advertising on your blog. Since it is a free service wordpress can choose to do as they wish, if you want advertising either get a custom domain, or use wordpress.ORG and host your blog, that way you can do as you please. Google might not require a domain for blogger, but, that’s their choice, and because Google owns Adsense, they directly make profits to fund hosting your free site.

If you are only buying a domain to use WordAds, realize it’s inefficient to say the least. The current wait time for approval for WordAds is over a month.

Regarding the URL no, deleting it and clicking Save does not work. That’s what I’m talking about.

What’s the point of using WordPress if I can’t put ads on it?

Did you try at the link I gave you? If that doesn’t work I’m not sure. How about here: http://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/users.php?page=grofiles-editor scroll down to the bottom, and try to click on the ‘x’ in the verified services next to the blog.

As for the point? Not everyone blogs for money, they blog for the enjoyment and interaction with people. If you want money, then WordPress.com is not the way to go, even if you get ads through WordAds you’d need thousands of views a month just to break even to regain the cost of the domain. As I said either go elsewhere, or use WordPress.ORG and host your blog with a hosting company, and you use Adsense and whatever other money making things you wish.

No, it was the dashboard. Does WP have any support? Or am I stuck with it not working?

I was being facetious about the ads…. :-) But it does annoy me because I don’t need a domain name.

    Thanks

I don’t think the changes are retroactive to previous places you have been
