Im going crazy! Where do I change the favicon? I have googled it but I cant find the ‘appearance’ menu which is where every forum says I should go. The menu is different from what it used to as well… Please help! Thanks!

I’m sorry for the confusion. Currently you can only change it in the classic dashboard. Have a look at the right side of this page, and you’ll be able to upload a favicon (blog picture):
https://carolinejakobsson.wordpress.com/wp-admin/options-general.php
Once you do that, it can take a little while to appear. Many browsers like to cache these icons for up to a week or so.

But!! My main problem I realize now is that I just can’t get to that dashboard (I could with your link but not on my own. I love the old classic one but how do I get there? I just downloaded the desktop app on my mac, and have not been able to find it on there or the website… Thanks!

You have to be logged in under the exact same username account that registered the blog to access it.
If you are not logged in under the correct username then clear your browser cache https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-your-browser-cache and cookies https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/#clearing-wordpress-com-cookies prior to logging into another account
The Admin login link to the dashboard for every blog hosted by wordpress.COM is:
http://NAME_OF_BLOG.wordpress.com/wp-admin/
* You will have to replace “name_of_blog” with your actual blog’s name in that URL.
If the log-in information is lost you need to visit https://en.wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
