    Hi There,

I am tagging thread to modlook, staff can assist you with your query.

    Thanks.

  • Good morning :)

Thanks for getting in touch. There’s 2 different versions of WordPress. Picking the right version for your experience level and the project is important.

Here, we are WordPress.com. That’s a managed environment. This means that many of the nitty-gritty-details needed for a successful site come built in and are ready out of the box. This truly allows you to focus on building your site and content. These are things like SEO, security, back ups, and access to a support team whenever you need help (that’s me). This option also includes your hosting. You could build a site entirely for free, or choose an upgrade if you need additional features, like a custom domain, for example. We can help you pick the right plan. In any case, they are completely refundable for 30 days and we can upgrade or downgrade that plan at any point. It’s a one time per year charge, no monthly billing to worry about.

The other version of WordPress is the open source, community maintained WordPress installation. With this option you do have to pay for a separate hosting provider. There’s not an actual company running this software, since it is community maintained. Support comes from the community forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ This is the more hands on version. If the site breaks or is not working well, you would have to figure out how to fix it or hire someone.

Take a look at the getting started materials for both options.
