Webcomic plugin – social media share button?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi,

I’m using Webcomic with the Panel theme. I am able to get social media share buttons to show under my comic posts. However, it appears to be sharing a link rather than the actual comic media. I’d like people to be able to click a button and have the actual comic post to their Twitter/Facebook/etc. feed. Can this be done?

(Note: my page is in ‘coming soon’ mode right now)

    Thanks!

We can’t help with third party plugins. You must contact webcomic support to solve this problem.

  • Hi there,

The built-in share buttons share the actual post the comic appears in, not the comic itself, which is just an image file/series of image files, so what you’re seeing is expected in this case. On most social media platforms that resulting post should also generate a preview of the post with an excerpt of any text content and/or the first/featured image of the post. But if that’s not happening, it’s likely the Webcomic plugin is adding the content in a way that prevents that.

So in this case I think your best option is to contact their support and find out if either they have an option for this built in, or otherwise whether there are specific sharing plugins that work better with their plugin than the options we have built in.

    You’ll find that plugin’s forum at https://wordpress.org/support/plugin/webcomic/

By the way, your plan gives you access to both live chat and direct email support. You can reach those at any time by clicking the Help icon that appears bottom-right on all the My Sites pages, or else via the direct link at https://wordpress.com/help/contact, but we’re only able to help with our own features, not those added by third-party plugins.
