Webhost needed for plugins?
-
Hello,
I, too, am a WP beginner. Your help is needed so badly.
We have our own server and domain at the moment.
BUT it uses very basic html and the layout is very last century.SO, for my organization, I created a draft using the free template of how it would look like, boss was happy and we bought the premium. I got started.
Boss requests:
-Add CRM system
-Add separate log-in pages for members-only access
-Add a world map to reference international projects
-Add companies & products search directoryI think these can be done only through plugins.
I know that with CSS, I can add images, sliders etc.
However, for extra features plugins are essential.THEN, I later read….
”There is no FTP access to free hosted WordPress.COM blogs and we cannot install individual plugins or third party themes into them. Those found on the internet are for WordPress.ORG installs which run on different software.”
”If you wish to have complete control over a blog, the ability to upload themes and plugins, and to edit themes and templates then your option is to hire a web host and get a free software install from WordPress.ORG and self host it.”
QUESTIONS:
-In order to use plugins, I need to hire a webhost? Is there a cost-free solution?
-We have our own server and domain. I found the ”Already own a domain?” section, does that help with the plugin situation?
-Or am I supposed to switch to .ORG? If so, how to do it?THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello finnishwaterforum,
I would say that a self-hosted installation might be a better fit than WordPress.com.
