WebP format and Media Library

  Am I correct in thinking that WebP formatted images are now supported in the Media Library? I have uploaded a couple of images lately and they seem to work without issue, but I see in this forum that there are comments that WebP files cannot be uploaded to the Media Library. Thankyou.

  When you take a look in our extensive documentation, you’ll see webp-images are amongst the accepted file types, https://wordpress.com/support/accepted-filetypes/

  Hi there!

  Yes, you are correct that webp format is now supported. You may have seen old threads in the forum back when the format was not supported (due to some technical reasons with the underlying code the WordPress software uses). But as of now, it is supported.
