Is there a way to have just my welcoming message, and various widgets on the front page, instead of whatever recent post I have made? I would just like the most recent post to be ethier in it’s appropriate catergory. Thanks.
BTW I am not computer/internet savvy. Used to be, but….lol.

You can either have posts on the front page or a static front page. The number of posts that appear is customizable and you can also make one of the posts a sticky post. So you can really set it up either way: one post per page on the front page or a static page as the front page.
Your main decision should be whether to use posts or pages. They have different uses and benefits:
