  If I want to provide a service where people can directly purchase a service off my website how would I do that?

  Uploading custom plugins is not supported on WordPress.com.. On this link you have a list of built-in plugin functionality. You need self-hosted version, whose software is available for free at WordPress.org.

  It depends on the service you’re providing.

  Basically, if you want to provide any other features on your website than a blog, you need to look into self-hosting.

  WordPress.com wouldn’t be able to accomodate what you’re looking to build.

  Self-hosting is fairly easy, but you need to to a little bit of work to get there. The pay-off is worth it though.
