  I’m trying to create an online store but it appears that all I can do is create a blog. How do I change it to an online store.

  Hello @palmtribe,
  You cannot create a fully functional online store on WordPress.COM, here why:
  1. There was an Ecommerce upgrade available previously, but it has been removed now. Read about it here: https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2014/02/25/wordpress-business-ecommerce/
  2. There’s no secure payment system available here.
  3. There’s no FTP access to upload custom plugins or products to enable Ecommerce features.
  4. There’s no Shopping cart system here.

  But here’s what you can do:

  You can sell your handmade products, art, books, or digital products such as ebooks or courses on your site using your PayPal account. You can also solicit donations or tips from your readers using the PayPal button or link.

  Switch to WordPress.ORG-a self hosted platfrom to create blogs, websites, ecommerce stores, etc. with more customization possibilities. You can also upload custom plugins and themes to set up a proper ecommerce store using WordPress.ORG.

  You can ask for help while creating your online store on the WordPress.ORG support forum: https://wordpress.org/support/. Because, this forum only supports the sites hosted on WordPress.COM.
