  Hello, I am wondering what the difference is between buying the URL for $18 or purchasing WordPress premium and having the URL as part of the package. What can I do with just the URL, and what is offered by purchasing Word press premium?

  This chart highlights all of the perks of a premium package versus the free plan. They include the free Custom Domain Name, Email & Live Chat Support, 6GB Storage Space and the removal of WordPress.com Ads.

  Please note, if you are using the WordPress free plan, you cannot just buy a URL. As explained here,

  Domain Registrations are offered as part of our WordPress.com plans. You will need to have an active plan on your site in order to register a domain. Each plan comes with one free domain registration. However, you can register as many additional domains as you want on the same site, but you have to pay for additional registrations separately.
