website

    Hello,
we already have a website (really old) that was developed in Dreamweaver. We have had some issues with our host and also want to update our website from Dreamweaver to wordpress. We would need the Premium package at a minimum, but are looking more at the Business Plan. We are a local government entity and I need to find out all of the total costs associated with changing to wordpress, I need to know if we can transfer our current (old) website to you then make updates gradually, and or if once we transfer the domain if we have to immediately create the new website.

    All help is appreciated.
    Thank you,
    SS

    Hi SS,

We are a local government entity and I need to find out all of the total costs associated with changing to wordpres

The latest prices of our plans can be compared here:

    https://wordpress.com/pricing/

Each price includes hosting and support, so you wouldn’t need to purchase either separately.

I need to know if we can transfer our current (old) website to you then make updates gradually

Standard hosting companies provide you with the option to move the whole site over to their servers. However, we only hosted WordPress.com sites so this means you would need to create a new site here and then import your content, choose a theme etc.

It’s worth noting that your existing theme probably won’t be compatible with WordPress.com but we have lots of themes to choose from in our theme showcase. The Business plan also supports the upload of third party themes, which gives you a few more options.

and or if once we transfer the domain if we have to immediately create the new website.

There are a couple of options for the domain:

    1. Connect it to WordPress.com with domain mapping
    2. Transfer it to WordPress.com

In terms of timing, you could create a Free WordPress.com site and start importing your content. The domain can then be mapped or transferred to us when you are ready to make the switch — or when you are ready to start adding custom plugins and themes to the new site.

Please let me know if you have questions about anything I’ve mentioned above.

    Thanks!
