Website address problem and page not working properly
-
I have two problems first one is that when I try to go to a particular page on my site it goes to a different one ie I click my welcome page and it goes to my testomonial page.
Second is that I paid to have my own domain name which is what is printed on my advertising material and I still need to type wordpress in the address ??
Can you please explain simply to me as I am very much a beginner thankyou -
Hi there,
when I try to go to a particular page on my site it goes to a different one ie I click my welcome page and it goes to my testomonial page.
Under Settings > Reading, you’d set your front page to be your Welcome page, but you’d also assigned your blog posts to be displayed on your Welcome page.
This presented a conflict, since a single page can’t be used as both a static front page as well as the page on which blog posts are displayed, as you can see by the error message in this screenshot:

Since your Welcome page couldn’t be used for displaying both blog posts and a static front page, the system selected Testimonials for the homepage instead.
I fixed this for you by creating a placeholder page for your blog, and assigning it to your posts, as you can see here:

Your Welcome link is now correctly going to your Welcome page, and the link to your Blog is also going to the right place.
For future reference can learn more here about how to create a static front page.
I paid to have my own domain name which is what is printed on my advertising material and I still need to type wordpress in the address ??
It looks like you created these three WordPress.com sites:
http://happyhearthorsemanship.wordpress.com
http://wwwdothappyhearthorsemanshipdotcom.wordpress.com
http://happyhearthorsemanshipdotcom.wordpress.comYou also mapped the custom domain happyhearthorsemanship.com to this site: happyhearthorsemanshipdotcom.wordpress.com.
Did you mean to map the domain to this site instead? http://happyhearthorsemanship.wordpress.com
If so, just let me know and I can make the switch for you.

Thankyou for rectifying the first problem. I am not understanding the second issue though. I was just wanting the address for my site to be http://www.happyhearthorsemanship.com so I am not sure how I created three addresses and I am not sure what you mean by mapping the domain to a site?

It looks like you accidentally created three sites, instead of just one:
http://happyhearthorsemanship.wordpress.com
http://wwwdothappyhearthorsemanshipdotcom.wordpress.com
http://happyhearthorsemanshipdotcom.wordpress.comMapping a domain means linking up a domain to a WordPress.com site so that the domain brings users to a particular WordPress.com site when it’s put into a web browser.
When I visit http://happyhearthorsemanship.com I get to an empty site with no content, so I wasn’t sure that’s the site you meant to connect to the domain.
Did you mean to connect the domain to this site, which has content? http://happyhearthorsemanship.wordpress.com/
If so, let me know and I can switch it so that your domain happyhearthorsemanship.com points to that site instead.
