  • Hi Paul,

We don’t current have a developer portal on WordPress.com, nor do we offer developer plans, so for each site you build that has to be on a paid plan, you’ll also need to buy a separate plan.

If your clients need dashboard access on the sites, they’ll need to create their own WordPress.com accounts, yes. They can do this without creating a site at https://wordpress.com/start/account/user/

Then there’s two common approaches to this:

    1) Use your account to create the sites and buy upgrades, and then either invite the client as a user on the site (meaning you remain the owner, and in control of/responsible for the upgrades), or transfer the finished site with its upgrades to the client’s account once you’re done which will remove you from the site completely.

    2) Have the client do the initial site creation step and buy the upgrades they need. Then have them add your account as an admin so you can complete the build, after which you can leave the site again, removing your account as an admin.

Let me know if you have any questions about this.
