Website Author Issues

I have been on WordPress for over a decade and I’ve had several different blogs. I’ve attempted to merge a few over time. Well, today I decided to reopen one I closed using a new blog name. I notice while importing the contents that it has listed as the author/owner a full name that isn’t associated with me at all. If anything, maybe, the individual commented on one of my blogs years ago. How do I remove this information when exporting and/or importing my blog content in the future? And how did it get there in the first place?

When you import a blog with multiple authors you’re given the option to reassign those authors. So you can simply assign them to you.

Also, do you know how to use the multi-post edit tool? You can assign an author to multiple posts that way:

I have others so it’s hard to say which site this wrong name was originally attached to. As I mentioned I did a few merges. My concern is that when uploading this old content into a new blog it showed this author name listed that had never been an author of any of my content. Almost as if it’s embedded in the source material as the author when this individual at most made a comment on one of these blogs somewhere but, never had authority as an author anywhere.
Does that then mean, this name is embedded in my new blog somewhere as the author? And if so, how to remove it. I’ll try the suggested information listed above but, I’m perplexed on how it became that way in the first place. I’ve never given that type of authority to anyone.

We really have no way to check what exactly is going on here without knowing 1) the site you exported the file from, and 2) the site you’re importing to.
Can you also tell us the username that you’re seeing imported as author that you don’t recognise?

The site I imported from was speckledblue.wordpress.com (I’ve closed it sometime last year or so). The site I imported to was threadedshadows.wordpress.com (I created this yesterday). The name showing as one of the authors is Kevin Marsden.

Kevin used to be on our support staff, and if he was listed as the author for any content on your site, it was most likely for a media file that he uploaded to your media library during the course of helping you with a support issue on your site.
I don’t see his name currently listed as an author for any content on your site, so it appears you’ve either already deleted that content, or else the author was reassigned during the import process as @fstat explained above.
If you import that same file to another site in future, you’ll probably see his name again, because it exists in that file, but if you just let the importer reassign content to the current user on the site as it’s designed to do, that won’t cause any problems.
