Website – Blogsite design??

  My daughter-in-law make a comment about my website. She said that she could not load up my website with her new Ipad tablet. She said I have too long of articles. She is probably correct about the too long of articles. She thinks I have too many categories of articles on my front page. But I do have sub-articles under each article that appears on
  the front page. These sub-articles are linked to the main article which I have numbered 01 on the front page. 01 is the parent article to which all the other articles are attached. I have a couple 100 articles and do not know of any other way to link the articles. She also says the I should have more pictures which I agree with, But I do not want to put pictures on my site just for the sake of pictures.

  She also previously didn’t like the theme of my site. Actually I do not remember choosing it. But once I looked at it, I personally liked it. It has a rotating theme. It is probably more manly that she would appreciate. She has very little experience with computers. She just started two or three years ago. I started in 1980 and created several website after 1998. My son learned on his own and Motorala hired him without any formal education. They also paid for all his College education and a Masters in Business Administration at Urbana Illinois university.

  Look at the website http://www.bibleresourceman.com and tell me what you think. Initially I signed up for a blog http://www.bibleresourceman.wordpress.com Then my son purchased me a 5 year domain Bibleresource.com and merged it with bibleresourceman.wordpress.com as the site provider.

  Any hints? I know somethings about websites but I am not an expert. WordPress.com is an excellent company which provides free blog sites.

  I have a friend who is a professional website designer. I plan to asked him the same questions I have asked you. Feel free to critique my site. I am always open to criticism. Improvement is always necessary.

  First of all, you do not have domain mapping on your WordPress.com website, so some of your visitors may be running into trouble with the site. It looks like your son did something called domain masking, which will point a domain to WordPress.com without the upgrade charge, but it’s not a great workaround and many users have reported issues with that.

  Since you have all of your pages in your sidebar, you could probably remove everything in your menu, and leave that for just a contact form (if you want to use one) and an “about us” page or something similar.

  The idea of having at least one image associated with each page is a good one. It breaks things up and gives the eye something to look at other than a block of text. Think about how much more fun it is to read a magazine than many newspapers, for example.

  Beyond that, how you organize and design your site is really a subjective thing, and not something we can really assist you with from a support standpoint. Other people are welcome to chime in with ideas.
