  I wanted to have a go at using some of the tools to build a website. I started with a ‘fictitious’ DN so I could muck around but it seems a little more complex than I thought. Can I make a website first to work out what I want. Ultimately I wanted a business website and the ;fictioius’ site is to one side. Can I use thisive to practice and then move on to my priority website when I feel confident to do this (I will need to map a DNS to do this so freaking out already!). I guess the answer is yes but slightly confused so any assistance greatly received!

  Hi there,

  When you create a site on WordPress.com, we give you a free example.wordpress.com address that’s yours to use for as long as the site exists, so there’s no need to connect a domain right away. You can do that later, once you’re ready.

  You can also create as many free sites in your account as you want, so if you want a separate site/sites for experimenting without it affecting your main site, you can do that.

  To create a new site, just click on My Sites top left of the screen, and look for the Create site link. Or you can just go directly to https://wordpress.com/start/site/
