    Hello,
    If we use WordPress.com to build our website and transfer hosting to another platform such as web.com where we have our domain, do we pay a flat fee to build our website or are there any monthly fees involved?

    Hi @twiggy458, all of our hosting fees are annual or monthly.

    If your plan is to build a site here then transfer that to a WordPress installation with another host, you could start with a monthly site here and cancel when everything is moved. But I don’t quite understand why you would do that instead of starting there with the host of your choice. The transferring process is doable, but it is some work.

    Also, please do bear in mind, our service isn’t just hosting. It’s SSL hosting, maintenance, security, and direct WordPress support with paid plans. If you host elsewhere, you take care of the hosting as well as any other tech services you need, so you’ll want to be sure you know what your new host includes and does not include.

    Also, if you just want someone to build the site for you, please note that is not included in our paid plans. But we do offer that as a separate product from our hosting services. And I believe these folks could refer you to someone if you wanted to host elsewhere. You can get in touch with them here.

    Thank you. What if we do that (build the site) then cancel after a month. How would we go back to make changes to the website when needed? Because we already have a site and domain on web.com and my boss was thinking it would be easier to keep it that way. I’m asking questions on his behalf.

    If you cancel a paid plan, your site will go back to free, and you’ll lose all the perks of the plan you had. So, if you want to keep your site on WordPress.com and maintain it, I’d strongly recommend getting an annual plan and sticking to our services.

    Your boss will want to decide if you prefer to keep your site where it is hosted right now or move it all to WordPress.com. Here you can see a comparison of WordPress.com and WordPress.org (self-hosted version of the WordPress software):
