  Hi- I am just getting started in wordpress, but I purchased domain name at Godaddy. Can I build my website first and then map domain after or do I have to do that first?

  You can absolutely build your site first and then set up your domain once you are ready to make the switch.

  You will need the Domain Mapping upgrade to use the domain with your WordPress.com site. Domain Mapping is included in all WordPress.com paid plans:
