Website can’t be reached after change new URL
-
Hello WordPress team,
I have an issue in regards to the website changes.
For your information, our company, UM Capital Berhad, has recently merged with another entity, where we are now referred to as UM Innovations (UMI).As an administrator of the umcb.com.my, I am responsible for changing the URL of the website to UMI.com.my (UM Innovations), along with the change of administration email address.
However, after completing the changes, I was not able to open the new URL as well as the old one, saying ‘the site can’t be reached’. Due to this, I may not be able to enter our website therefore seeking your good cooperation to retrieve the address with the changes done.
Appreciate your swift response on this.
Thank you.Self-declared URL: https://umcb.com.my/wp-admin

Hello @umcapitalbhd,
It seems that both of your mentioned URLS umcb.com.my and UMI.com.my are not registered with WordPress.com; rather, it’s a self-hosted site. You can check it here -> https://wordpress.com/site-profiler/You can learn more about the difference between WordPress.com and WordPress.org here -> https://wordpress.com/support/com-vs-org/
If you wish to link your domain to your WordPress.com account, you can use this guide.
If you want to move your self-hosted site to a WordPress.com account, you can check out this one.
I hope this will help. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

You can’t just change the URL in your wordpress settings, as you found out. To make your site live again, you must change the wordpress url and the site url back as they were. You can do so in the database of your site. You find all info in the documentation at https://wordpress.org/ or contact your hosting provider support.

Migrating to the wordpress.com platform won’t recover your site as it wasn’t running on the wordpress.com platform.
