  We want to use wordpress to create a new website for the company. We already have a website and domain. We would like to use wordpress to get the website built and then once it is completed attach/transfer it to our existing domain. Is this possible to do?

  Hi,

  You can build a site with WordPress, and then use a domain you currently own through domain mapping: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  Please note: You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to map a domain. Each paid plan comes with a free domain credit you can use to either register a new domain, or either transfer or map one you already own.

  There’s also an option to transfer your domain to WordPress if you would like everything in one place: https://en.support.wordpress.com/incoming-domain-transfer/

  You mentioned you already have a website – you can also move your content to your new WordPress site if you like. If there’s an option available to export your content from your current site, you can then import the files to WordPress: https://en.support.wordpress.com/import/
