Website Customization
-
Hello, I need HELP! I have no idea what I am doing when customizing my website. When I bought my theme for WordPress, I thought it would be simple to just change text but I have changed my website somehow, and I don’t know how to get it back. At this point I am willing to pay someone to get me set up with EVERYTHING so that I can just sign in and maintain the website. Please, youtube tutorials are not helping at all.

Hi there,
You are referring to the theme on https://maxirlabsblog.wordpress.com/ yes?
Are you trying to set it up to look like the demo here? https://wordpress.com/theme/shoreditch
What are you trying to customize about the site exactly? Thanks for the additional info!

Hello,
No not for this website, I just happen to be one of the authors for this website for my job but the theme for my website is called “chapterone” and really I just want to change text and delete pages. The link is earthwindbooks.com
Thank you

Hi Kimari! Thank you for that website URL. The site you have there is WordPress, but it’s not hosted here at WordPress.com. I’ve put some instructions below on what to do next.
First, I searched for the theme “Chapter One” and found it for sale here through Themeforest: https://themeforest.net/item/chapterone-bookstore-and-publisher-theme/24715791
Themes that are sold generally have some kind of documentation to help theme owners learn how to set it up and manage it. This is what you will need to locate next. Try Googling something like “Chapter One Theme Documentation”.
Second, as I mentioned the site isn’t hosted by us, this means how y’all get support for that site will also not be through us. You may already be paying a host for some level of support. And, in addition to that, you can pose you questions to the wonderful WordPress.org forums community here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums
Best of luck!

Hello,
Yes I am hosting with a different platform. I also figured out how to customize.
My question is an error that I have recently came across after customizing a page for the theme.
It states:
Recoverable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in /home/customer/www/earthwindbooks.com/public_html/wp-content/themes/chapterone/framework/modules/woocommerce/shortcodes/product-list/product-list.php on line 459I am unsure of what that means and how to fix this problem.

Hi there,
To clarify, the version of WordPress we use on WordPress.com functions differently form the version of the platform that Siteground uses. In this case sites on WordPress.com do not generate that kind of error code, so we would not be able to help you resolve it.
You can however ask for help in the public forums for WordPress.org (the version Siteground uses) by visiting this link: https://wordpress.org/support/forums
Also since the issue seems to be with your theme (as mentioned in your error message) you may want to run that by Chapter One support, and see if they are able to help.
Also if you like the idea of being able to turn to us for help, you can migrate your Siteground site to us by following the steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/moving-from-self-hosted-wordpress-to-wordpress-com/#option-1-migrate-from-self-hosted
This would switch your hosting from Siteground to WordPress.com, and from that point you would be able to access our live chat (24/7) support for any further questions you have.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction!
