  Want to add a header, color, photo etc – from the free designs but need wording changed
  Also need to add an explanatory paragraph above blog

  Have never done this/no idea what majority is being said, ok?
  Under Free themes Found Coherent but do not want that large heading, how to shorten? how to change the wording?

  If you do not want to have a header image do not upload one.

  re: changing a site title or tagline
  Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the underlying .wordpress.com URL and purchased the upgrade the Site title (blog name) and/or the optional Tagline can be changed on the top of this page at any time. > Settings > General … “save changes”.

  That is exactly where search engine spiders look for the site title and removing it from there can cause issues with getting your content indexed. Note that the site title (blog name) and blog address URL do not have to be the same but it’s better for SEO (search engine optimization) if they are the same.

  Thank you so much for your replies as I struggle thru this
  did a customize color, green but it is way too dark, maybe need to remove it
  need to find a photo can put up, correct?
  Do I need to make any explanation paragraphs in the header so they would remain with any additional blog pages?
  would like the background to be a tan so how would I do that – the entire blog page to be that color – easy on the eyes

  I cannot find any “subscribe to” anywhere

  about to give up
  want to add doves pic, can’t do that
  can’t get any color at the top of the blog page
  cannot find out if this blog is now public or private, and if private how to go public when it is ready

  if going to get this suspect have to contact someone who already has a blog page

  Those pictures on the header can be from the theme custom header or posts/pages featured images. As follows:
