Website disappeared. 404 error. Everything gone!

Hi, My website stephaniejaneallen.com has disappeared off the face of the earth. Instead, the only thing the page displays is:

    Index of /

    Services/
    cgi-bin/
    css/
    tw.php
Apache Server at stephaniejaneallen.com Port 80

When I then try to log in to http://stephaniejaneallen.com/wp-admin, I get a 404:Page not found error.

My host (Hostgator) tell me it is not a domain mapping issue – so I really don’t know what caused this. I have not updated or changed the site for months – so I have no idea why it’s suddenly disappeared! Please help

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Is your domain stephaniejaneallen.com registered here at WordPress.com or elsewhere?

Hey @stephaniejaneallen as I see, your domain stephaniejaneallen.com is pointed to HostGator servers – so has nothing to do with WordPress.com.

Your domain should actually load this content : https://stephaniejaneallen.wordpress.com/ ? if this is what you want to do, I think I can give you the steps to follow, just please let me know.

Hi – it’s hosted by Hostgator – but they are denying any responsibility for it’s sudden disappearance and are saying that files have been deleted.

I used wordpress to build the site (which I would edit via http://stephaniejaneallen.com/wp-admin).. but I’d not done any edits or amendments for many months before it suddenly disappeared.

So is it possible that a change on the wordpress side of my site dev could have caused this?

    Thank you very much guys,
    Steph.

separately – dragso https://stephaniejaneallen.wordpress.com/ is a totally different site that I’ve not really done anything to and has no similarity in content to stephaniejaneallen.com (but thank you for checking!)

    Hi Steph,

Since the website was hosted at HostGator, you must ask them to check the logs and see what happened with your files. More than this, they should have a backup for your files – ask them about this.

If they refuse to help you with this, I’m afraid the only option would be to start building your website from scratch :(

If you need help, please let me know
