Website disconnected from account?

Hi, it seems our website (www.prout.nl) has been disconnected from our WordPress account. If I try to access the site via http://prout.nl/wp-admin/about.php, I get a message saying that ‘there has been a critical error on this website’, and my dashboard within WordPress says that I do not have any sites yet.

http://www.prout.nl is a site hosted with Dutch Cloud B.V and uses open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org), whereas this forum deals with sites hosted through WordPress.com.
They’re very similar, but two separate things.

Hi, thanks for your response. Our account is for wordpress.com though, and this is the account that I have been using to update the website since the beginning. We do not have an account for wordpress.org.

The site http://www.prout.nl, you are using does not appear to be hosted by WordPress.com , so you must be using WordPress software from WordPress.org as your content management system.

Hi, thanks a lot but I remain confused. I am entirely sure that I have been logging into wordpress.com to edit our site, I have never used wordpress.org and our login information does not work there.

Your site appears to be connected via Jetpack plugin via WordPress.com. Because it is connected to Jetpack, you can access it from the WordPress.com dashboard.
This could be because of plugin/theme conflict.

Hi,
There is no jetpack connection from prout.nl to the user account you are posting from.
This either means that the connection has somehow been broken/removed, or you are logging into the wrong WordPress.com account.

Hi, thank you both! We did have a Jetpack connection, so it may be that it broke after the latest update. Once again, I am definitely not logging into the wrong account…….

Update: I see I am not the only one encountering this issue (https://wordpress.org/support/topic/update-created-critical-error/) so I will attempt to follow the steps outlined in that answer. Thanks again for your help!
