Website disppeared
-
My website seems to have completely vanished from the ‘My Site’ section of my WordPress account (nothing is showing at all). Our hosting with WP Engine recently expired rendering the site inactive, but was assured by WP Engine support that the site would still be available in WordPress to put live again once the hosting had been reactivated. I have no reactivated the service but there is still nothing showing, and I cannot find any history of it. Please can you advise/help me on how to get this appearing again, I’m having a bit of a panic as there was a lot of money invested into this website. Thank you!

Hello there,
Happy to help you with this.
It looks like the Jetpack connection from https://www.goddessnutrition.com/ to WordPress.com may have been deactivated once the hosting with WP Engine was removed.
You should first make sure that Jetpack is installed and active. For good measure you should disconnect via these instructions: https://jetpack.com/support/disconnect-jetpack-sites/ and then reconnect here https://wordpress.com/jetpack/connect
I hope this helps.

Hello, thank you for your reply!
Unfortunately when I click on “My Sites” it says: “You You don’t have any WordPress sites yet.
Would you like to start one?”So the site has completely vanished from the back-end. Could this be due to the hosting service expiring? And if so, should the reactivation of the hosting service (WP Engine) may this site reappear?
Many thanks and kind regards,

Yes a lapse in hosting could be the reason for this not appearing.
Just to check, has the site hosting been renewed?
Many thanks.

Hello, it has not been renewed yet – I thought I had renewed it but it appears I had renewed something else instead relating to plugins (I’m not great with this sort of technology!)
I’ve been in touch with WP engine who say they do not have a back-up of the site due to the hosting lapsing more than 60 days ago – would there be a back-up of this available through WooCommerce/Wordpress once the hosting is back online, or are we going to need to go back to our original developer to get a version?
Kind regards,

Hi there – General WordPress backup information can be found here: https://wordpress.org/support/article/wordpress-backups/
WordPress itself does not back itself up. Backups are done either by yourself manually, or by plugins designed to do this (for example, Jetpack plugin), or your host creates backups for you as part of your hosting arrangement with them.
It likely does not hurt to get in touch with your original developer, because they may have saved something along the way that could potentially save you some time.
As a last alternative, see if previous versions of your site were saved at WaybackMachine. It’s a very manual process to copy pages over, but it may help you make progress in recovering this site.

We do not run Wayback Machine, so we’re not the best to answer questions about that site.
