Website doesn’t come up but as a security alert

  • What is the URL of the site you are trying to access? We’ll be happy to take a look and see if we can help.

  • Hi there,

When I visit the site, I am not receiving any security alert. This is what I am seeing:

What security alert message are you seeing? Does this pop up when visiting your site on a different browser or device?

Just on Google. I was able to bring it up on another browser. But somebody in my congregation had the same problem with a different kind of browser. Google says that the certificate is invalid.

  • Is there any chance they’re typing https://www , or a chance that they’ve been given a link with that? You can see that will not work:

    https://www.StPetersacc.org

But if they’ll simply type StPetersacc.org, or if the link is https://StPetersacc.org , it will work fine. We apply the SSL certificate to the domain without www in the subdomain.

And, http://www.StPetersacc.org would work too, if you like the look of www. It will just redirect to the secure site.

No. I am only ever typing in stpetersacc.org. I don’t add www.

I’ve just upgraded the site and paid money hoping that would solve the problem with the Certificate. But it hasn’t. I still get this message from google.

“stpetersacc.org normally uses encryption to protect your information. When Google Chrome tried to connect to stpetersacc.org this time, the website sent back unusual and incorrect credentials. This may happen when an attacker is trying to pretend to be stpetersacc.org, or a Wi-Fi sign-in screen has interrupted the connection. Your information is still secure because Google Chrome stopped the connection before any data was exchanged.

You cannot visit stpetersacc.org right now because the website uses HSTS. Network errors and attacks are usually temporary, so this page will probably work later.”

  • Got it. I see the issue now — and it actually has more to do with your domain verification than SSL, but that lack of verification is holding up the SSL provisioning.

Can you look in your email for the domain contact info verification link? Click that link. It won’t ask you to log in or anything.

Then wait a few hours for our system to reattempt SSL provisioning, and check in with us here if it is not resolved.

Thank you. I appreciate it. The person who “owns” this is supposed to call me today. I shall ask her to verify the domain contact. Thanks

We did all of that verifying domain contact etc and google is still not allowing me to proceed to stpetersacc.org – I’ve cleared my browsing etc for 7 days. It still won’t allow me thru. I have zero trouble with internet explorer. What’s going on? Most people are going to try to go thru google so I need google to work.

    Plz advise

  • Hi there – we found the domain is stuck in a sort of confirmation loop.

Once the confirmation loop is resolved the domain will load without issue, just as you are wanting.

In order to address this promptly and securely, we’ll need contact the owner of the domain. We’ve sent an email to the owner email address and look forward to hearing back so we can help get this resolved.

We can’t thank you enough for your patience so far. Hopefully we can help get this resolved in short order.
