website doesn't connect to existing domain name

    Hi there,

    Currently I’m dealing with a large issue. I’m not a very technical person but I do understand the basics of WordPress. That’s the reason why I chose to create a website via wordpress.com rather than wordpress.org, because I still wanted a professional and good-looking website for my business. I’ve enjoyed creating my website via wordpress.com and after I finished the complete website I wanted to connect this site to my current domain name (on which my current website is running – not created via WordPress). However, that’s when the issue started.

    The domain name I’m talking about is my-happiness.info and I’ve created my WordPress site on myhappinessinfo.wordpress.com (which now isn’t visible anymore as I’ve changed the primary domain).

    As I was already having some trouble due to my lack of technical knowledge, I got in touch with both the hosting company where I got my domain name from and WordPress live chat, yesterday. I updated the following DNS at my domain registrar:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM
    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

    I got this information from the following link: https://en.support.wordpress.com/map-existing-domain/

    I was told by both WordPress and the hosting company that everything was filled in and updated in the right way, so everything should work. I just needed to wait a few hours.

    This morning I checked my-happiness.info again but now (after clearing all history) nothing shows up anymore, not even the old website. I called the hosting company and they say that they do redirect to WordPress (since I’ve updated the name servers with the right information (NS1.WORDPRESS.COM, etc)), however, the website that I created at wordpress.com doesn’t show up.

    My largest issue right now is that my business website does not work anymore at all, so my clients won’t be able to access the website. How can I solve this issue? I’ve already read different articles and searched the forum but nothing seems to apply to my issue as it is a very specific one.

    I really hope that someone can help me. I’d really appreciate any help!

    According to this WordPress.com diagnostic tool, your site is set up properly: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-helper/

    According to this DNS propagation checker, your site’s info has been updated throughout world (except the UK, when I checked): https://www.whatsmydns.net/#A/my-happiness.info

    Hi,

    Thank you for your reply. I checked it again as well and now it works! I probably needed to wait a little longer, I didn’t know that it could take up to 72 hours to work. I’m currently in the Netherlands. Possibly it needs some more time for the website to also be available in the UK?
