  if i register for a free .wordpress.com website now and later want to upgrade to my own domain name, can this be done and what are the costs? Also, I understand that wordpress.com is blocked in China but wordpress.org isn’t. If we created a wordpress.com website with our own domain name and host, will the website still be blocked in China?

  I hope someone has some insight about WordPress.com and China.

  I know that China blocks WordPress.com hosted blogs and the fact that the blog is on a domain matters not.

  You can always copy your site over to a self-hosted alternative (WordPress.org). Using this version you can install WordPress on any appropriate server and it will not be blocked.
