  I havent decided it what it is yet, do I need to, to start building the site?

  Hi, you can change the domain whenever you want. You can use both the free plan options finishing with “wordpress.com” and different ones in paid plans. You can also map the domain in case you had bought it already at other registrar.
  Remember only that if your change the domain, it cannot be restored after 30 days.
