  I currently own a domain and want to transfer it to this new site I’m building. However, I don’t want to transfer it right away and have viewers come to an empty or in progress sight. Is there a way that I can bypass this step and come back to it later?

  Absolutely! You can start by adding content to the site (using the free address containing “.wordpress.com”), choosing a theme and making customisations etc. When you are ready to start using the domain, it can be mapped or transferred to WordPress.com.

  If you want to upgrade plans in order to use features like additional storage space before then, the domain credit can be left unused until a later date.
