Hi. My website has been down for a while now and I have no idea why. When I type in my website’s url, what shows up is nothing like what I created for my site. Can you please tell me what happened and how I can get my website back? Thanks.

To further clarify your question, is the content of the website different (pages, text, etc.), or the design of the website?
If the content is different, you can view old versions of your pages and revert to an older version if you wish. Instructions to do so can be found here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/editors/page-post-revisions/
However, if it is the design that is different, a couple of things could have happened. You may have accidentally changed the theme yourself, or perhaps you were paying for a WordPress plan and using a Premium theme, and when the plan expired, it caused your site to revert back to a free theme.
If you remember the theme you used to use, you can reselect that theme via My Sites -> Themes and searching for the theme. Please note if you used to have a paid WordPress plan and are now using the free plan, you may have to purchase the theme since the free version of WordPress does not come with unlimited Premium themes.
