website down after installing upgrade
-
After installing recent updates on my websites one of them crashed (though as far as I knew they were both set up exactly the same). I managed to get this from my host:
Warning: include_once(/var/www/web/wp-content/themes/genesis/lib/init.php): Failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /var/www/web/wp-content/themes/author-pro/functions.php on line 14 Warning: include_once(): Failed opening ‘/var/www/web/wp-content/themes/genesis/lib/init.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/share/pear:/usr/share/php’) in /var/www/web/wp-content/themes/author-pro/functions.php on line 14 Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function genesis_unregister_layout() in /var/www/web/wp-content/themes/author-pro/functions.php:108 Stack trace: #0 /var/www/web/wp-settings.php(611): include() #1 /var/www/web/wp-config.php(88): require_once(‘/var/www/web/wp…’) #2 /var/www/web/wp-load.php(50): require_once(‘/var/www/web/wp…’) #3 /var/www/web/wp-blog-header.php(13): require_once(‘/var/www/web/wp…’) #4 /var/www/web/index.php(17): require(‘/var/www/web/wp…’) #5 {main} thrown in /var/www/web/wp-content/themes/author-pro/functions.php on line 108
There has been a critical error on this website.I have updated the PHP, and tried rolling back to a previous backup but with no luck. I don’t have a clue what I am doing but cannot afford to get a webdesigner in.

Hi there,
I’ve taken the time to look into your website and noticed that it’s actually using the WordPress.org software and is hosted by a different provider.
WordPress.org is the same foundational software we use here at WordPress.com, but it’s set up a little differently. Because of this, the specific help you may need can be different. To get the most appropriate help for your issue, I’d recommend posting your question in the official WordPress.org support forums, which you can find here: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/.
That said, I would also like to mention an alternative for you. You can migrate your website to WordPress.com. We are a managed-hosting platform, which means we take care of all the maintenance and security tasks so that you can focus on creating content for your website. We also offer dedicated WordPress support through both email and live chat to ensure your questions or issues are handled promptly and efficiently.
If this sounds like something that could interest you, we’ve built an easy-to-use tool specifically for migrating WordPress sites from other platforms to WordPress.com. You can learn more about how to use this tool here: https://wordpress.com/support/import-using-move-to-wordpress-com/
You can also take a look at our various plans and what they offer on this page: https://wordpress.com/pricing/
If you have any other questions or if there’s anything else you’d like to discuss, don’t hesitate to let me know.

Thank you for that. I will re-post the query in there.
I’ve had a quick look at WordPress hosting and would love to switch, however, at the moment I get both my websites on the one package for £160 a year. I appreciate it is cheap compared to other plans, so I have to do all the work myself, but as these websites are barely looked at by anyone it would be pointless to pay £240 for each one just yet. I will definitely keep it in mind though.

Hey @nellyharper,
You are very welcome, and we appreciate the feedback about our hosting services. We will always be here if you decide to make the switch! :)
