Website down – Domain mapping error

    Hi our site maidenheadspeakers.org.uk has been down for over a week now. The maidenheadspeakers.wordpress.com version is still active, but for some reason the domain mapping no longer works. The option is there to map a custom domain, but when I try the ….org.uk address I get this error:
    “This domain was recently in use by someone else and is not available to map yet. Please try again later or contact support.”

    No luck with getting a response from support for some time so trying here. This site has been up for many years and we have owned that same domain for a long time. How can this be fixed?

    Hi there,

    It looks like the domain mapping upgrade, previously owned by the user, ajsutton, has expired. When a domain mapping expires, we have a waiting period before a different username can map the same domain in an attempt to prevent domain hijacking.

    As you’re also an admin on the site I can help you manually add the domain mapping back before the waiting period ends, but it would be best to add it to the prmaidenhead account instead, as that user also owns the Personal Plan on the site. That way the domain and plan will be linked, so they’ll always renew at the same time and you won’t have to pay separately for the domain.

    I’ll need the user, prmaidenhead, to reply here to confirm in that case.

    Thank you for confirming from the correct account. I’ve added the domain mapping, and your site is again showing at the domain.

    Also note that as a plan owner, the prmaidenhead account has access to live chat during weekdays, so you’re welcome to contact us there should you need any help going forward. You can start a chat from this page:

    Other accounts on the site won’t have access to live chat, only the plan owner.
