Hi, Looks like your domain needs to be pointed to the WordPress name servers, check this article out on how to do this:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#2-ask-your-domain-provider-to-update-your-dns-settings

Log into or contact your domain registrar to get that corrected then all traffic to your domain will find it’s way to your WordPress.COM site.

Bear in mind that changes to domain mappings may take a little while to update across the internet.

Let us know if this help!

    Hi andysabel,

Thanks for your reply! I have pointed my domain to the WordPress name servers already, but its still shows the same message as before:
‘This domain was recently in use by someone else and is not available to map yet. Please try again later or contact support.’
Should i keep waiting or do something else?

Hi, It looks like you need to purchase an upgrade otherwise you won’t be able to map your existing domain to your current WordPress.COM site, see

    https://wordpress.com/domains/add/

If this is for another site, let us know which it is so we can check the details.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi andysabel,

I have just purchased the premimum plan and unfortunately it is still shows the old message:
‘This domain was recently in use by someone else and is not available to map yet. Please try again later or contact support.’

    Appreciate for your further help!

Hi again, Have you set your domain as the primary domain for your newtakenet.wordpress.com account?

    Got to:

    https://wordpress.com/domains/manage/

Choose your site then above in the list hit the ‘Change Primary’ button to select the mapped domain.

Again, may take few mins to update,

Let us know how this works out.

    Hi andysabel,

I think i have to add my domain to my site first then i can set it as te primary domain, but i can not map it yet, so i can’t do it now.
Everytime when i try to map the domain to my site, it all failed and shows the same message.

Hi, Indeed you need to add this domain in your Domains config before you can point traffic to your WordPress.COM site.

I have tagged this thread ‘modlook’ to get one of the experts to dig a bit deeper into this as the basic mapping looks to be correct.

Hi, Just to follow up, please make sure you have pointed your domain newtake.net to WordPress.COMs name servers via your domain name registrar, i.e. where you purchased your domain from, then you will be able to map this domain to your WordPress.COM site.

    See this page for details:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/#2-ask-your-domain-provider-to-update-your-dns-settings

Let us know if this helps.

Hi again, I have found that your domain is already mapped to another WordPress.COM site owned by wanmeimen.

This mapping needs to be removed before it can be re-mapped to another site in WordPress.COM.

    Hope this helps

    Hi andysabel,

Cool! I will going to talk this issue with wanmeimen further, Thanks for your time and help!

Hi, You’re welcome, let us know if you need any more help with this one.

Hi, I am currently experiencing the same problems as Newtakecn and I have gone through all the necessary steps.
I added the DNS, “NS3.WORDPRESS.COM” yesterday as it was missing.

When I try to add my domain name today , brfgoodtemplar.se, the following error message still shows:
‘This domain was recently in use by someone else and is not available to map yet. Please try again later or contact support.’

    What might be the problem?

Hi there, Which WordPress.COM site are you trying to map your domain to?

Have you checked that this domain is not mapped already to any other WordPress.COM sites you currently own as this is often the issue.

    Hope this helps!

Hi, I am trying to map it to brfgoodtemplar.wordpress.com, It has been mapped to it before but my Premium plan ran out before I got to renewing it. Therefor I need to redo the mapping procedure.

I don’t own any other wordpress websites.

When I try accessing brfgoodtemplar.se the error message reads: Warning! Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found. Please log in and go to the Domains Upgrades page of your blog to use this domain.

Hi again, can you check you didn’t originally map this domain via the user account kronobergsparken who is also an admin of your site? If this is an old account of yours but you cannot recall the login, please use the password recovery option on the login page.

    https://wordpress.com/log-in

there are two links to follow either:
    -Email me a login link
    -Lost your password?

If you still have access to the email account associated with your WordPress.com account then the login link will get you in again so you can reset your password, if not but you remember your username or password, then use the Lost your password link.

For more info see this page:
    https://en.support.wordpress.com/passwords/

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice! It is not my account, but I know who’s account it is. I will get in touch with them.

But what is it that I need to ask them to do? I would like the domain to be mapped via the user account goodtemplarbrf in the future.

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, As kronobergsparken originally mapped, and I presume purchased the domain brfgoodtemplar.se, they are the person to transfer ownership of the domain to you, or at least re-map the domain via their WordPress.com user account. You cannot do this via your account as you are not registered as the owner of this domain.

Hope this clarifies things, let us know if you need more help with this.

The ownership of the domain is a housing society and the ownership of the domain is already with our organization. So the issue is probably only then the fact that we have two admin accounts and the mapping was done with the one I do not use.

If my former colleague in the board if the housing society who used the other account (kronobergsparken), would be removed as admin – would that solve anything?
Or if he logs in – can he change any settings to ensure the mapping can be done via my user account?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi, As he is the domain owner, only he can map the domain to a site otherwise anyone could do it! I don’t suggest removing him as admin until you have resolved the domain mapping issue.

Easiest, for now, is to get him to try mapping it again via his account, but long term you might want to sort out transferring the domain if it’s possible this person may not be actively involved or in contact in the future?

See this guide for more details on your options on the matter as you might wish to transfer ownership of the domain:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/transfer-a-domain-to-another-wordpress-com-account/

    Hope this helps!
