Website gone offline

    Hi Carl,

Sorry for the confusion. You currently have one email forward set up, to forward email sent to (email visible only to moderators and staff) to your email address (email visible only to moderators and staff). Any email that is sent to that address will be forwarded to you, so you’re all set with that.

If someone emails a different email address ending in @linguagenesis.org.uk, though, that won’t be forwarded to you. (For example, if someone uses the email address (email visible only to moderators and staff).) To use another email address like that, you’ll also need to set that up in your domain’s email forwarding settings. So right now, only that one email address you set up will forward to your personal email address.

I hope that clears it up! If you have any other questions or concerns about that, let me know.

Let me get this clear in my head. If someone emails me on my linguagenesis email, it won’t be forwarded to tartansox? How Squirrel Mail can be so incompetent is starting to rile me.

The thing is, it would be very stressful having to find where that email address is on the Internet and alter it on every site. Can I not just use it on a different emailing server? I did find out what Squirrel Mail’s IP address was, but despite making the change in the DNS settings, nothing is working. It really is frustrating. I cannot be lumbered like this while Squirrel Mail does nothing. Can they be reported to anyone?

    Kind regards

    Carl

    Hi Rachel,

Just got this message from my friend, who is knowlegeable about these things. Can you help?

    Regards,

    Carl

You’re using WordPress as the DNS server so any changes you make at LCN will have no effect whatsoever. There’s no easy solution Carl

WordPress won’t change their mail record for obvious reasons and you’ve handed control over to them for your domain records

The only way now is to revert to LCN and ask WordPress for an IP address to assign to an A record

You might be able to use an IP Alias at a push.

  • The best way to map a domain to a WordPress.com blog is to set your domain’s name servers to the following values:

    NS1.WORDPRESS.COM

    NS2.WORDPRESS.COM

    NS3.WORDPRESS.COM

However, if you have a specific reason for setting up A records, please note that our IPs change over time. Because of this, your domain might stop working at some point in the future. If that happens, please get in touch with us to find out the most current IPs and then update your A records, accordingly.

If you still want to map your domain using A records, please be sure to create two records using these IP addresses:

    192.0.78.25

    192.0.78.24
