Website hacked?

I think my website has been hacked by http://msoftware.biz, how do I get rid of them?

The chance of a WordPress.com website being hacked is very unlikely. As such, could you please just clarify what your URL is (rather than who you think hacked you)?

    Hi there,

I think my website has been hacked by http://msoftware.biz, how do I get rid of them?

I see that your site, http://msoftware.biz, is a self-hosted WordPress site.

This support forum is for the users having WordPress.com sites. WordPress is different from WordPress.com. Here is the difference: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/. For any support on self-hosted WordPress site, you can prefer looking at this support page: wordpress.com/support

    Hope this helps! :)

@vaidehisingh Whilst that is the likely scenario, the OP did state that his website may have been hacked by that site rather than owning that site, and emphasised that in the last section of his question. It may be best to wait for a correct URL before redirecting a user.

Also, that is not the correct support page for self-hosted users.

  • Hi there,

The account you’re using to post here does not own any sites on WordPress.com.

If you’re using the open source WordPress software at another host, please ask for help at https://wordpress.org/support/ instead.

You can find general info on increasing the security of a self-hosted WordPress site here:

    Hi @torres126,

Yes, I missed that part. I will ensure to be more careful next time.

Also, that is not the correct support page for self-hosted users.

As I mentioned in another thread too (that I answered today), I created a template for the queries, which were posted on this forum but were for self-hosted WordPress sites. In that template, I mistakenly directed the user to wordpress.com/support instead of wordpress.org/support. I will check all my replies and correct them. I will be more careful next time. Thanks for pointing out.

Not knowing the protocol here, I did not give my url when making this query yesterday,
priscillaspitler.com When making an update on my site yesterday, I inadvertently entered priscillaspitler.com/admin on my google search and this is what came up:
    msoftware.biz/priscillaspitler.com.html
When opened, my wordpress site is exposed. It explains why daily I am getting junk mail via my contact page. What is happening here?
And sorry for not understanding WordPress vs WordPress.com

  • Please post in the WordPress.org forums:

    https://wordpress.org/support/

The WordPress.com forums are for WordPress sites that are hosted by WordPress.com. Your site is hosted by GoDaddy.

No way, I created my website via WordPress. My domain names (priscillaspitler.com and handsonbookbinding.com) are hosted by WordPress, I have never had any dealings with GoDaddy. I think this software.biz may possibly be a godaddy site, and somehow my web url has been linked with it.
I apologize for my lack of knowledge of how these things work.

  • Hi –

Here is the public facing information that I can see on these 2 domains.

    1. priscillaspitler.com

    Registrar: DREAMHOST
    ns1.dreamhost.com
    ns2.dreamhost.com
    ns3.dreamhost.com

No connection to WordPress.com for priscillaspitler.com.

    2. handsonbookbinding.com

    Registrar: DREAMHOST
    ns1.dreamhost.com
    ns2.dreamhost.com
    ns3.dreamhost.com

No connection to WordPress.com for handsonbookbinding.com.

There are 2 versions of WordPress and they are very different. What we do here at WordPress.com is not the same as using the stand alone WordPress software – that is what your sites use. They are not connected to us. We don’t have any access to them for further assistance.

More information about these differences can be found on this page: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

In order to get help, you need to contact DreamHost or visit https://wordpress.org/support/

Thank you (and all) for clarifying this, and the difference between using a
WordPress template and WordPress.com. I will go to Dreamhost about my concerns.
