    Hey Shauna.

It looks like your domain name shaunadelvin.com was not registered with us, you do have a Mapping upgrade, but that’s only for having WordPress.com handle requests for such address, not the ownership of the address itself.

The fact that there’s now an strange site at your address means that most likely your domain expired and was bought by someone else.

The current owner of the domain registered it on 2014-06-09:
    http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/results.jsp?domain=shaunadevlin.com

This is likely a person or group that goes around buying expired domains to later ask for a ransom from the original owners.

I would advice you to consider a different variation of the domain, and forget about the .com. Trying to get it back might expose you to an online fraud or scam.

Instead, I have removed that old Mapping you had registered and restored the Domain Credit to your Premium package.

This means that you can go to Dashboard > Store > My Domains, and register a new domain name:
    https://shaunadevlin.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=domains

You won’t be charged for that, it’s on us :-).

I’m sorry about the lost domain. I sincerely hope that you can use the domain credit to register a new domain that you like as much, or more.

Let me know if you run into any trouble with this.

    Thank you so much!!
I am confused because I thought that I registered my domain back in November, transfered from Vistaprint. I followed instructions from WordPress, Godaddy.com I think…
Anyway, I really want to keep my domain. It is for sale. Do you think that if I click to buy, just to see, will I expose myself to fraud??

    Hi again,
I checked out the company that has my domain…they have a terrible reputation.
Please help me out…if I register a new domain name with you, wordpress, are you also able to be my host. Why did my domain run out?? Again, I went to godaddy which seems to be linked to Networksolutions….aarrggg…I am really upset. My domain name is my name. they seem to also have the other variations of my name, with .net, ,org etc.
    thanks again :)

Ok, I re registered my domain using .net, thank you.
So….is wordpress my new host and safe for a year??
Will my info from my other site be transfered???

    thanks :)

    Hey Shauna!

Apologies for not having been around when you had doubts earlier today.

To answer your latest questions: Yes, WordPress.com is your host and your address is valid for a whole year, you’ll need to renew the address with us a month or so before 2015-06-30 (the expiration date of shaunadevlin.net).

WordPress.com will host your site’s content forever, and for free.

However, if you want an address like shaunadevlin.net to be handled by WordPress.com you need to buy a Domain Registration/Mapping service.

You used to have a Mapping service, since your address was registered somewhere else already (the .com).

Now, you have a Registration service, which means that the address is registered with us (the .net).

You don’t need to worry about anything but renewing the address every year in a timely fashion.

Since it’s part of your Premium package, renewing your Premium package will take care of renewing the domain name. You’ll be notified to the email you have registered with us.

About your content, if you mean the content on http://shaunadevlin.wordpress.com/, it’s already available at http://shaunadevlin.net/.

Addresses are just another “alias” or name for a site. The site itself is the content, the one you see in http://shaunadevlin.wordpress.com/ and that you can administer in http://shaunadevlin.wordpress.com/wp-admin/

If you don’t recognize this content, it’s possible that you had shaunadevlin.com hosted somewhere else. I can give you some pointers about this if this sounds familiar to you.

    Let me know!
