Website hacked/stolen

    Hi guys, I believe my website http://www.letmetakeyouplaces.com has been hacked. I cannot log into it and when I do log into all my profiles it does not appear on my list of domains. I received an email two days ago asking me to pay $66 to renew my domain but I know it was never this amount with wordpress and I believe I usually pay my annual amount around July. The email was received from the following address: (email visible only to moderators and staff) Can you please help me figure out what is going on?

    Hi there,

    Your account does not own the domain, letmetakeyouplaces.com, and never has. That domain still belongs to the username that registered it in August 2015. There has been no recent password or email changes on that domain and no one has accessed it from an unknown IP address, so there is no evidence that the domain has been hacked.

    I do see your email address in the domain contact details, so it’s possible you registered that domain using a different WordPress.com username. The username that owns that domain is letmetakeyouplaces. If you log in as that username you’ll be able to access the dashboard for that site.

    The email you received, however, is most likely a scam. That domain does not have private registration enabled, meaning the domain contact details are available on the public Whois database. The people who emailed you most likely got your email address there and are hoping you’ll pay them because you don’t know what’s going on.

    But it’s completely unrelated to you not being able to access the site. That’s because you’re not logged in as the correct username.

    The domain was renewed in July 2016 and will only expire in August 2017.
