I have the free plan with wordpress. I pay an annual fee for Domain Mapping does this include website hosting. I have looked into it and apparently my website hosting is done by Automaticc.
Please can someone enlighten me on this. I took over just a year ago and I am not sure of all the facts.
Thanking you in advance.

Automattic is the company that develops and manages WordPress. WordPress.com is their hosting service for WordPress sites. Since I do not know your plan or other info
I am going to tag this “modlook” for a moderator to help you out. They should be able to see more than I can.

Hi there,
Hosting refers to whose servers your site’s files are installed on. As you have your domain connected to a WordPress.com site, that means your domain/site is hosted with us.
On WordPress.com you don’t pay for hosting. Hosting here is free for life, so your annual payment does not include payment for hosting.
What your $13 a year pays for is to connect the domain, which is registered somewhere else, to your WordPress.com site.

Thxs for that. We have our domain registered with Crazy Domains and they are offering me a special deal on hosting my website but if already have free hosting why should I even reconsider, as I am happy with the way things are.
May I request some guidance on this too. Apparently my SSL Certificate expires in around 3 weeks on https://lavistadelcoffee.com.au. We do not use out website to sell on-line. It is purely for information. We do our on-line selling through shopify, so would we have a need to renew our SSL certificate? Not sure of how this works too. Would appreciate your input.
Thanking you in advance.

Where do you see your SSL certificate is expiring? If your site is hosted with us, we automatically issue an SSL certificate using the LetsEncrypt certificate authority. We ensure that certificate remains active, and it is only revoked if you point your domain away from us to another hosting provider.
If you are paying Crazy Domains for SSL, you can definitely stop doing that. SSL needs to be set up with your host (us in this case), not with your domain provider.

Thaxs very much your your valuable insight & guidance. Clearly Crazy domains is trying to make a buck off my business.
Thank you once again.
