  After purchasing a domain name do i have to purchase hosting too

  Yes, you will need to purchase both a domain name and hosting.

  Wordpress does offer a free domain name and free hosting with the free plan.

  Hi there @csnotees and @ryrhino00 All WordPress.com plans, including the free plan, include hosting. Hosting is not something we pay for on WordPress.com. Upgrade plans add features, which you can also read more about here: https://wordpress.com/support/plan-features/

  
  @csnotees – all upgrade plans includes either registering a new custom domain name or mapping a domain you purchased from a different registrar. You need to purchase a plan in order to use a custom domain on a WordPress.com website. https://wordpress.com/support/domains/
